Step up – The Glow Edition

Spring and Summer are rapidly approaching and with that come the quest for glowing skin. And while this is annual, nay lifetime, quest of many the pressure is on to be the shining sun goddess we all have with in. Let’s face it, that melanin skin, that warm weather – its perfection. With that in mind, there are few things you can do to get the jump on radiant skin.

  1. Keepin’ it regular

It doesn’t have to be anything fancy but properly washing and moisturizing your face on the regular will play a huge part in getting your inner glow on. Especially my lovelies who have an affinity for makeup and wear it on the regular – your skin will thank you for providing a fresh canvas with which to shine. I recommend the double cleanser in the case. You don’t have to use an oil cleanser if you don’t want to, sometimes all I do is wash thoroughly twice or three times with a good foaming cleanser. Follow up with a toner and vitamin C serum of your choice. Lock in the goodness with a moisturizer of choice.

  1. Exfoliation nation

Exfoliating the skin on a weekly basis. They will help remove the dead, dry, and dull skin revealing the new, softer, fresher skin underneath. Exfoliating also helps to remove the pore clogging radicals and excess oil, which makes it easier for skin to absorb nutrients from toners, serums, and moisturizers. These products are able to really sink into the skin and thus, is able to get the most out of what they have to offer. I like to call this product maximization!

  1. Essen-cessity

You already know where I’m going with this. Essence are the back bone to glowing skin. There are thousands upon thousands available, all with different benefits and specialties. My absolute favorite way to enjoy this product is by, you guessed it, sheet masks. I LIVE for sheet masks! Innisfree, TonyMoly, and Tosowoong (a personal favorite) are just a few brands I’d recommend. 15 to 20 minutes after application, you peel off the cotton-like sheet to review instant results. If I had to choose, I would say this is the quickest route to glowing skin.

  1. Hydrate, Hydrate, Hydrate

What the what? You heard me right. You can soak in all the fabulous goodness you want from a hundred sheet masks, but if you aren’t drinking enough water…. All that hydration is basically surface level and temporary. I have a couple recommendations for this. First – carry a hydro flask. You can fill these with ice and have cold refreshing water all day long because the ice won’t melt so immediately. Second – add fruits and veggies to your water to provide alternative flavors that make your inner water goddess happy.

  1. You are what you eat

Lastly, maintaining a healthy diet – heavy on the veggies and fruit will boost those vitamin levels. Improper digestion can lead to skin issues and everything you eat spreads throughout your whole body. By avoiding super greasy, fatty, processed foods in place of well-balanced meals, you give your body a chance to work on your skin from the inside. This will only help to elevate what you do to your skin on the outside.

These are just some of the basics you can do that will lead you on the path to better skin. Let me know what your thoughts are. What do you like to do to achieve the glow?
